Near miss with acrylic acid
A drum of frozen glacial acrylic acid was being melted in a warm cupboard. When sufficient had melted, it was sucked up and the rest left frozen in the drum. Analysis indicated that the melt contained all the inhibitor, an incident could have occurred if the residual (uninhibited) solid was remelted in the cupboard.
There are known protocols for thawing drums of frozen acrylic acid, published by the manufacturers. These should be followed whereever possible.
