Stability of Dinitro compounds

No specific incidents, but it should always be realized that most small dinitro molecules lies a potentially large decomposition energy.

Typically the energies will be in the order of 2500J/g, with large gas evolution, often the onset will be quite high (150-200°C), but that should not be relied upon.

In addition, one should also realize that the combination of high decomposition energy with not too high an onset temperature, might indicate a case for shock sensitivity.
