Failed meter causes spill of sulphur dichloride

The Incident

A spillage over over 100kg of sulphur dicloride occurred when a flow meter failed.

The Reason

It was not known that the flow meter contained titanium parts which corroded in contact with the sulphur dichloride


It is essential that all materials of construction within a plant be checked for known incompatibilities with the materials that will be used
