Plant changes led to fire in skip

A fire which occurred in a metal skip containing solvent wet product was attributed to static electric ignition of solvent vapours. The conducting wheels on the skip had been replaced with nylon and a COSHH extraction enclosure had been fitted separate to the nitrogen inerting system. It is thought that the nitrogen inerting gas was removed faster than it was replaced allowing a flammable atmosphere to build up in the skip.
